When can I apply for Citizenship?

Post by meegs81 » Sun Apr 29, 2012 4:58 pm

I arrived in the Uk in April 2009 on a fiance visa. I got married 18 Sept then applied for the further leave to remain (2 years) granted 6 Jan 2010. On the 18 Feb 2012 I was granted permanent residence.
My question is when can I apply for naturalisation??
is it 12 months after my ILR so after 18 Feb 2013
or can I apply for it in April 2012 which is 3 years since I arrived or can't I because it was a fiance visa??

Thanks for any responses and advice

Megan

If you are married to a British Citizen you can apply 3 years after you arrived in the UK on your fiance visa - April 2012.

Thanks very much - so I will apply for it this week. Great news as I was just assuming I had to wait till Feb 2013. Very happy!

I just like the idea that I can keep my passport with me.
Cheers

Discrepancy with the date you've given in this thread.

Reading the Guide and Booklet AN before filling the AN form will help (e.g. - 2.1).
