Most urgent request- Return of documents Identification

Hi

I have applied for Tier 1 general migrant visa extension in March 31 and have not received any acknowledgement from the UKBA. On May 04, I have called UKBA requesting return of documents for identification purposes which according to them will take 15 days and when I enquired about when I have to return the passport the lady told me the casework will let me know. I have specifically told them it is not withdrawal of my application.

My biggest fear is that UKBA might charge the fee and treat it as withdrawal.

Advice and help needed.

This is one area that is not very clearly documented and Case Workers generally tend to make mistake unless you communicate this clearly and properly.

If you ask your passport back for travel reasons then your application is automatically withdrawn, even if you do not travel or change your mind. You will have to re-start the process again. So it is very important, and think twice or thrice before you withdraw saying you have travel reasons.

In your case, you call them and make sure you requested your passport back for other reasons such as id proof or renewals etc, they temporarily put a stop to processing your application till they receive it back from you. They will wait for a time frame (of 6 months I think, have to check this) for receiving your passport back and start processing it back again.
Do not make any travel within this period that requires immigration clearance on your arrival to UK, becuase there is a chance that may void your application becuase of the new systems being arranged in place. Your application processing will resume from that point in time when you requested it back otherwise they will treat it as lapse. [/b]

This really helps. I have specifically mentioned that I need it for my identification purposes -examination. She has put this information clearly on the form and told me that I will get the passport back within 15 days and the caseworker will inform me when I need to return the passport.

I will call them again on Tuesday to re-confirm this.

My friend has just asked me to send a fax to UKBA to re-confirm that the return of passport is for identification and should not be deemed as withdrawal of application. This will serve as a documentary proof to avoid any trouble in future.

Is any one knows the FAX number where I need to send this FAX?

I have requested return of documents from UKBA for exam identification purposes today. My bio metric has been done for Tier 1 General Visa.

Please let me know how would I need to send back the documents to UKBA. Is any one gone through this process recently.

Have you received your passport back from UKBA?

If so I'd love to know when you received it - so I can work out how many days it took them to return it to you.

I have requested return of my documents (and withdrawl of my application) on Mon 21-May-12 as I need to travel urgently. I have no idea when I will get my passport back so I can depart!
