Passport interview booking without waiting for IPS letter??

I remember reading in a post that after one sends in a passport application, you can call for a reference or something like that and then book for the interview without waiting for letter from IPS.

I can't find the topic that discussed that now. Can someone direct me to that post or plz tell me how I can book a passport interview without waiting for letter from IPS. I have just applied for naturalisation but would like to be ready when I get it - I know I have lots of time before applying for my passport but would like to be ready.

Hi Jambo,

I made email enquiries to determine if my Check and Send Application had been received by the IPS. I received an email acknowledgement and a number prefixed by IPS of the format IPSXXXXXX.

Please would you know what the structure / format of the passport reference no used for booking interviews looks like?

I don't think this is the one used for the interview. This is just a general reference number that all applications (even those who don't need an interview) get.
