Visit Visa

Post by ARPHskp » Tue May 22, 2012 12:58 pm

My parents / inlaws might be applying for visit visa from Pakistan. They will be self sponsored except I will be sponsoring accommodation and food.

I will be showing the standard 3 months pay slip and bank statment but I was thinking that can i show my money in form of shares as most of my savings are invested in shares

You can show it - but it's not liquid money - so it's unlikely to be considered.

It'd be like claiming your house could be used as cash to support them.

Valid point. I might sell some shares to show more money in my account. Don't know whether its good time or not to sell

Keep in mind that you need to explain any large deposits into your account as the ECO will simply suggest it's been put there for the purposes of the visa application and isn't available to actually support the applicant.

Hmm. Only three months statement are required. So I should do this in advance so that get money in account before three months

Hold on! Why do you think you need to do this? Is your bank balance permanently in the red? As long as you have a regular income cashflow and it's sufficient to meet your needs with some extra to provide for your guests, that should normally be sufficient. They are not looking for a lump sum that is ring-fenced for this purpose.

With Grace of God my bank balance has not been in red as far as my memory goes. But there is thing may be wrong concept that you need to show good amount may be £7000 to £8000 in your account to make it more strong application. Although they are self sponsored so logically there is no need for money except money for food which is like peanuts for couple of months.

Some people even say that you should show enough money to survive for six months. The reason they say what if you lose your job. Don't know what is right thing but risk of visa rejection makes me shivre

That`s complete nonsense. If you have a steady job, regular income, live within your means, have suitable accommodation, there is no need for anything else. You also mention that your guests will have their own finances to provide for the application. Stop worrying.
