Set protection with 1 dependant born in the uk

Acknowledgement and biometric letter received on the 11/10/17
Received a letter today asking for my travel document

I m a refugee who was granted status in June 2013 and i m now due to apply for ILR in June 2018, so i have to apply on May 2018. I came here with family consisting of 6 people with my Mum and Dad. So we all were granted refugee status. Now my dad does not live with us anymore because he is separated.

The second point is that because I was involved in a minor accident with a car, I got a caution(warning) letter from the police.

My question is that because my dad doesnt live with my mum any more will that affect our ILR application in any way. P.s. the 5 of us live together.

Thr second question is will my warning letter from police will have any impact of our application as my mum will be the main applicant

I think as long as you are still with the main applicant then you should have no worries about 1 dependant less. Your dad not living with you all anymore has little or no implications unless there is underlying issues that affect everyone’s immigration status.
Secondly, you shouldn’t worry about just a warning as it is nothing severe to affect your application.
One of my dependants (partner) had an 8month suspended sentence for 2years and 240 hours of community service and his application was successful and delivered along with mine and our kids. As long as it is not a custodial sentence of up to 12 months, then the HO can work around it.
Remain positive and hope for the best!!!

I have one more question. When i was granted the refugee status, i didnt have any surname on my permit. Later on, because i needed surname, i made change of name deed poll to add surname but didnt submit the deed poll to change it on my BRP. But in my driving licence, i have added the surname.

Again will this affect the application in any way??, sorry in advance

Home office ask you to let you know if you change your name anytime during your probationary period. I had changed my name and told them after a year sent them my old refuge document and they made me a new with my new name. You didn’t submit your driving license so it shouldn’t be a problem for you as far as I can think

i had one more question. Is it true that those who came in the UK, say for example in 2012, the rules of 2012 apply on them when they apply for ILR or the rules will apply of when they where granted status. Say a person was granted status on 2013. So when the person applies for ILR, will the rules of 2013 apply on the person because the person was granted status in 2013?

I applied on 13 dec I didn’t receive any acknowledgment latter from HO can any body tell me this is normal thing they send acknowledgment latter late or some thing is wrong ??? Cos my leaves got expire on 6 jan and my employer want latter to countinue my job

Hi I think if you had read the thread you wouldn’t have asked this question. From what I gathered from your question is that you received you bio matric enrollement letter with acknowledgment letter and not the actual BRP that you receive once your case has been decided. It is not only normal but the rule for everyone applying under SET protection. You can take your letter of acknowledgment to your employer and show them as a proof of your right to work in the Uk. Home office will decide your application just around 6 months time from when you applied for it. Yours should be end of May or June this year. Good luck

Please, anyone, who got Refugee Settlement ILR Indefinite(BRP card) recently and visited the home country on own country passport due to parent death. Because refugee waiting for many years to visit the home country which is impossible without a British passport. Now 10 years rules of good characters making it’s difficult to apply for naturalization. I don’t know how can we visit the home country with ILR refugee settlement if someone parent passed away. Please comments if possible on this issue?? thanks. really appreciated.

My understanding is that you risk your status if you a) get a passport from your home country you sought refugee status from and b) visiting your home country as HO could well take the view that your refugee claim is one of deception only to gain status in the UK and that there was no threat to your life etc.

dear friend i think 10 years requirement does not apply for refugee, you can apply citizenship after 1 year from your ILR if you apply your assylum as soon as you arrived in uk third party solicitor weblink removed by moderator

Hello Everyone,
Today I’m immensely excited to finally share the good news with you guys.
I was granted ILR, received an approval letter this morning at around 10:30. Couldn’t believe my eyes as I was mentally prepared to wait a minimum of 5 months. In total my processing time was 4months and 10 days roughly . Thank you very much for your unconditional support and I wish to those still anxiously waiting for an answer to keep positive yours will come along soon.
