Second discretionary visa renewal

Hi all
I have been in UK since June 2001. My claimed asylum was refused. In 2003 I stared my battle with cancer. To make a long story short I was granted a discretionary visa of 3 years in June 2009, based on family life. Made an application for a renewal in May and gave my biometrics last week. Just out of the blue, my long term partner wants to end the relationship. I have never claimed any sort of a state benefits, and due to my work my employer do a CRB check every two years. Hence I haven’t got a criminal record. I have no doubt that my recent application for unmarried partnership will be accepted (hopefully). My question is what I would do when my visa run out by may 2015, and I’m no longer in a relationship? Which was really what granted me the stay in UK, will I be eligible to the 14 years rule (if it is in effect at that time)?
