British passport (replace lost passport)

Hi i hope this is the correct section of the forum, if not i apologise. Basically last week i sent my application off for a replacement passport for a lost passport which i reported lost about 2 years ago. I used check and send at the post office for this, but the lady at the post office said i dont need to send my birth certificate or anything but my countersigned photo one identical photo and my application form. Is this normal? Will the passport office delay my application because of this? I am a british citizen from birth and both parents are british.

Hope someone can advise me im always worrying about things like this.
