Student Visitor: Proving information about my finances

Post by alicahappy » Fri Jun 29, 2012 3:22 pm

Dear forum users :D :D :D ,

I’m not a German, but currently living and studying in Germany and want to apply (within one or two weeks) for a Student Visitor visa to study one semester in London.

Now I read that student needs to prove that they have at least £5,000 for a semester and I’m thinking how to prove that to the UK Border Agency.

I don’t have such amount on my own account at the moment, but have two possibilities:
1. Show financial information of my friend who has £5,000 on his account and can support me in case I need it;
2. Put £5,000 on my own bank account and show only my financial information to the UK Border Agency.

In the first case I need to explain who is this person and why he’s going to support me. What kind of prove should it be? In the “exotic topic” I found information such as telephone calls, screen shots of facebook messages etc. Do I need it in my case?

In the second case: would it look suspicious if I put £5,000 one week before application date? In the last 6 months I never had more than £1,500 on my account… Or can I explain that a friend of mine gave me £5,000?

What is the best solution :?:

Thank you

But you really need cash once you start travelling to UK like tickets, accomodation and other daily living expenses. From where you will bring money for those expenses?

I'm going finance myself from 3 sources:

• partially from private savings. My income is not so high at the moment compared to German standards, but by the time I'm going to have £3,000 of my own savings by the time I arrive in London

• partially from scholarship from a German federal institution that supports young people in education(but I don't have appropriate documents at the moment, they are still considering my application. But I definitely know that I will receive support from this institution, because they financed my semester abroad during my bachelor studies. The scholarship will be transferred as monthly payments

• from small savings of my parents, but again, compared to German standards their income is quite low and they would be considered as not really able to save money…

In the very worst case the person that can help me now with the financial status, can lend me money.

So I am sure, I will survive in London, but now a bit worried that UK Border Agency can reject my application because I don’t have enough money at the moment. As a solution I thought of either showing financial information of above-mentioned person (who has£5,000 on his account) or lending this amount to put it on my account…

But I really eager to make my dream come true and to study in London for one semester…

I would be very thankful for every piece of advise :D

According to the situation I think second option will be better.

Put your friend's money in your account gradually and submit your own bank statement with visa application. Source of money can be provided personal or parents savings as you gonna pay back this amount in same manner. Many people have their savings in other than cash form i.e gold, silver, bonds, FOREX etc. So when they want to visit some country like UK and dont have cash to show they do the same thing. They either convert there savings into cash and put into bank account to show or borrow money from friends or family members.
