British Citizenship

Hi,
Can anyone give me advice on this issue please.
My husband recently got BC. My 13yr old son and myself have refugee status ending in September 2012. My son was born abroad and has been here 8yrs.I was told I have to have ILR first before naturalising. How about my son, does he need to have ILR first or I can straightaway register him as BC. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
