Single Mother with a baby, Waiting for ILR and no Income!!!!

Can someone plz give me some advice on the following:

My aunty knows an unemployed lady in her street who is in desperate need of advice on benefits etc, she is a single mother from Pakistan who has had some domestic issues and currently living with her son in a shared house. The son is 8months old with a British Passport, however she is still awaiting a decision on her ILR application to the Home Office.
At this moment she only receives child benefit and nothing else. As the child is too young this lady cannot afford to pay for child care.

Is there anything she can claim or any financial assistance she can get?
