KOL test appointment documents

Post by jnj8284 » Sun Jul 22, 2012 7:03 pm

Ok, my husband decided we should rush all this before the deadline of my visa, after having planned for almost a year to leave the country right about now. I have my KOL test appointment in Dundee on Tuesday and am leaving tomorrow morning to travel there in time.

My problem is, for me to be allowed to take the test at all, I'm meant to have one of these:

- a water, gas, or electricity bill
- a council tax bill
- a letter or document from the Home Office
- a UK driving license
- a bank or credit card statement

with my name and post code on it.

As I only got my NIN in the last 5 months, and we were planning to leave, I was never added to my husband's bank account, never got a license here, the Home Office hasn't sent me anything to this address, we've never got a council tax bill at this address either, and our electricity is a prepaid key. I haven't seen a water bill either, but we rent from a housing association.

Is there any other form of documentation they would accept even though it isn't listed?

I have letters from HM Revenue & Customs and letters from our housing association with my name on them, but that's about it.

Help!

Hi jnj8284,

I had my LI Uk test last week. They insisted on the documents to be with in the last 3 months. Luckily we had the joined Bank statement which did the job. Make sure the document is as recent as possible.

Thanks, both of you, for your replies. I went to take the test today and they wouldn't accept an HMRC document as proof of address. Only the things on the list I posted, which, of course, I didn't have. Just so everyone knows, the Dundee branch does not accept anything but what's listed!

I might have to try for an extension.
