NO ENTRY CLEARANCE STAMP ON PSW VISA

Post by tensedandworried » Wed Jul 25, 2012 11:09 pm

Hi Guys,

It would be great if you could advise me on what to do on this:

I studied in the UK from Sep 2009 to Nov 2010, came back to India and returned to the UK on February 21, 2011 on a PSW Visa.

However, when I entered the UK, the immigration officer did not put a entry stamp on my PSW visa or on my passport... But I was allowed to enter the UK and got an NI number, a job et al

Now, I had to go back to India in first week of July 2011 and came back in last week of July 2011.

Upon my arrival, the immigration officer put a stamp on my passport but not on my PSW visa, saying that it should have been done when I came back in Feb 2011 itself.

Now, I am a bit concerned about this. Would this cause any problem should I leave the UK and then try to enter? My PSW visa runs until Feb 2011 and I have my NI card, job letters and everything - just that stamp on the PSW visa is missing.

Please let me know guys if you have any suggestions.

Cheers!

Timmy

Presumably you mean the visa runs until Feb 2013 or a subsequent year.

There shouldn't be a problem. If there was, you would have had trouble the last time you came back. The IO was correct in saying the visa should have been endorsed when you first arrived, but the visa itself is "Leave to Enter" and the IOs' endorsements are simply confirmation of arrival. If you were to apply for an extension or a further visa, it might be advisable to point out the date on which you first arrived, with some sort of proof if possible, but no need to make a big deal out of it.

Hi Mr Rusty,

Thank you for your reply. Indeed, I meant that my PSW visa runs out in February 2013... I am planning to apply for another visa in around four months' time, so am a bit worried about this *gap* in my immigration history.

I don't think I have any proof of coming back to the UK in February 2011, other than my bank statements, proof of living here through a letting agency and NI card. I don't have the old flight tickets left with me sadly.

Should I talk to the Home Office right now and ask about this? Do you think that the Immigration department would have all my details on their database?

Cheers!

Timmy
