Hi,
I have been looking for information specific to applying for a spouse visa as a carer and thus far having no luck so thought I would see if I could get some help here.
Basically I married my husband in the UK back in November, we've had a relationship for over 2 yrs whilst at uni (him being on a student visa). His visa expired and so travelled back home and so now here's where the appliction part comes.
So now with the rule changes I'm a bit stuck as to the financial conditions we have to satisfy as it seems a little vague so I have a few questions:
I read that up to a year's previous financial history can be checked/ asked to show. Previously I was a student and not working much (irregular shift work) before applying for Carers Allowance. Will this be a problem? I will continue doing up to 3 shifts a week as this is the most I can do with the £100 limit on my earnings. If it will be a problem i.e. not earning enough then will I have to delay my app?
Do the new rules mean that I should use the old guidelines as a measure as I will be exempt as receiving Carers Allowance? I do not pay rent/ council tax as I'm back at my parents now. They do not need me to pay any contribution. Does this mean I can use the Allowance + the income for work, so say average total £150 p/w as leftover to live on for me and my husband?
As for housing. There is already a spare bedroom in the property as well as my bedroom which would obv be where my husband will stay. I hope this would be adequate as far as accommodation is concerned. How would I get this portrayed in the application. I'm guessing a letter from my Dad would not suffice? Any clues? Also how would I state that I would not be required to contribute to house/ council tax payments?
Finally the main concern was as I would not have been a carer for long when the application is sent (less than 3 months) Would my previous earnings be considered against me as there was not much in terms of income. I don't have anything in terms of savings so would you think it best if I start saving or use my husbands savings (less than £5000) in the application or will it not matter (fingers crossed)
Sorry for all the questions. I've tried to be as clear as possible. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. All I've so far understood fully is that I am exempt and need a little more detail. Finally could I ask whether it would be worth contacting the Home Office directly for clarification or would they not advise much apart from the generic stuff that's out there?
Thankyou in advance for reading and any input or suggestions.
