Greece no visa child british passport

Post by texasholdem » Wed Aug 01, 2012 9:06 pm

Hi i have booked a weeks holiday for the 22nd of september to go to greece. I am british with a british passport. My son is a 1 year old with a british passport. My girlfriend is Colombian with a british indefinite leave, however just a colombian passport.

We have visited europe before over the years and had a visa schengnan application...however i called the 0906 no today and the first visa application date is the 18thwhich is 4 days before we leave.

I thought 8 weeks would be ample time but now im left with a paid for holiday with no visa for my girlfriend.

My questions are as follows.

1) Does the fact our son has a british passport alter the need for a schengen visa?

2) Does the fact we are going together alter the need?

3) i have googled " last minute visas" and it seems there are some expensive short cuts for french visas. Is it possible to go to greece on a french visa? I have researched and peopleseem to say you need to go to france first.

4) if i have to go to france first can my girlfriend fly to france and then to greece or can she just book a hotel in france and then not use it?

5) is 4 days not enough time?

6) is there anyway to speed up a visa visit at the greek embassey?

Any help would be gratefully received

Many thanks in advance.

You will need a visa. I would have thought that 8 weeks was ample time as well. You could try anther EU country, but they will expect you to actually travel. Keep at them.

Thank you for your response.

From those that are in the know is there a country which is easier to apply through. Ie in terms of speed of application and or leniancy to not have to travel there.

thanks

How long have you lived with your girlfriend? Is she the parent of your child?

EU free movement law may apply. In that case the visa would be free. May not be an option for this trip but woth keeping in mind.
