Passport interview

Post by sara99 » Fri Aug 03, 2012 6:56 am

Hi
I have applied for naturalisation 2 months ago, me and my husband who is British are thinking about separation I am just wondering if I get naturalisation certificate and same time get separated what will be the situation for my British passport will they keep it on hold then? Also we have a 8 monhs old baby who was born in England.
Can I still get British passport and do I have to do to interview with my husband or can I go without him

Hi

Sorry to hear that you are going to the ( separation)
Once you receive your BC Invitation you need to book a ceremony with your local council to receive the certificate, your husband does not have to come with you.
Once you will get the BC you can apply for a passport any time you want and your husband wont be involved at all.

For your Baby is already brittish.

Good luck

So that men's once I get my naturalisation my husband got nothing to do with my British citizenship and doesn't matter if we are separated.

Exactly. Once you're British, your civil status is irrelevant for obtaining a passport.

For a matter of interest, someone who is separated can still apply as a spouse of a British Citizen. For UKBA purposes they are still considered to be married. You won't have a problem with your application whether you separate or not.
