No problem Ziggy, I'll call up the Home Office and have them create a new visa category for you and your girlfriend. :roll:

You say it's unfair that your girlfriend has "settled" here and created a life, but cannot stay. She had a student visa - she knew from the get-go that she wasn't here to settle and would be returning home once it ended. If she chose to see things otherwise, that is her own fault.

I'll save the rant about getting a degree in an unemployable field at a price of 14k a year as an international student, when you're from a country that has similar education opportunities.

I don't understand why your complaining to anyone here, they can't change the rules for you. Your options have been clearly laid out for you. Pick one. End of story.

Spot on. And before the OP commits himself to marriage as a means of establishing her right to reside in the UK, he should run a very objective check that all the requirements for Leave to Enter or Remain as a spouse can be met. As he said he can't afford the "visa applications and a wedding" there must be some doubt as to his financial standing.
