Suggestions needed: India Visa for UK born child

Hi

Need a suggestion from experts:

I have got ILR and will complete 1 year on ILR by next year. So I should be able to apply for British passport.

My Son was born in UK (before I got ILR) and I got his UK passport now. So what is the best way forward to get India Visa as I plan to travel India for few weeks

1) Should I apply for a PIO for my Son and then switch to OCI when I get UK passport next year ?
2)Should I apply for his Travel Visa and apply for OCI directly next year


Also, what is benefit in switch him from PIO to OCI ?
