tier 2 general new employer

Post by SHILPA123 » Mon Sep 03, 2012 3:23 pm

Hi ,

I am currently on a tier 2 general visa granted prior to 6/04/2010.

If I want to change my employer and get a new Tier2 general visa with them, what happens to my status when my current visa is withdrawn and before the new visa is granted.

Does it affect my 5 year continuity that is required to get the ILR

Many thanks

If you want to switch to a different employer you should get a CoS from them first following which you can apply for leave to remain. If you do that before your current leave expires then it will just be replaced by the new leave.

Don't give notice in your present job until you have a new CoS.

Your eligibility for ILR after 5 years will not be affected by the switch.

Many thanks for your response.

Can you also let me know how much time does it take usually to book an application for the new tier 2 and how long does it take for the new visa to process?

regards

Currently it takes upto 3 months to get COS Allocation.

It can take upto 2-4 months for Tier 2 Visa. So better option is to apply in person.

Since I am switching from tier 2 general to a new tier 2 general from within the uk, am I correct in thinking that I will require an unristricted COS?

Does it take 3-4 months even for an unristricted COS?

If that is true.....3-4 months My rmlt would have expired

Worried!

No It does not take that long for unrestricted COS but double check with company.

remember you can even apply without COS if you thinik your visa is expring . Also you can get urgent treatment prior to 14 days of your visa expiry.

Sir if your current Tier 2 does not expire until April 2013 then there is no need to worry at all.

You'll easily get COS in time (since its unrestricted ). Once you have COS then go for Apply in Person.

I know its hard to get an appointment but there are ways to get it.

PS If you apply without COS now then they will reject /refuse your application straight away since that would be daftness.
