Regarding form AN

Post by farrukh » Wed Sep 12, 2012 9:02 pm

Hello All

I am not sure if this has been answered before. But would appreciate your input on this one.

I was granted HSMP on 13th October, 2006 and I received my ILR on 22nd of September, 2011. Is it all right to apply for naturalisation on 24th of September? The reason why I asked this is because it says that you have to be in the UK 5 years or more to apply for naturalisation, but I am not sure if that is including 1 year on ILR + 4 years on HSMP?

Hope to hear from some one soon.

Cheers guys

That's it exactly. You have to be here for 5 years of which the last 12 months must be without immigration restriction (ILR). So you are good to go. (As long as you were physically present in the UK on and around September 24, 2007, to allow time for them to receive your application and fullfil the rule about being in the country 5 years before they receive your application.)
