Non-EU spouse of EU national studying in Scotland

Post by sylvia532 » Sun Oct 07, 2012 7:55 pm

Hi!

My husband and I got married in 2008 and now he holds Residence Card. He started a full-time course in a college in August this year. We applied for full funding (home/EUROPEAN fees and student loan) as we found out that family members of EU national residing in the UK for more than 3 years are eligible to apply for full funding. Last week we received a letter from SAAS requesting further information. They want to know when and in what circumstances my husband entered the UK for the first time and where he studied. He came to the UK in 2003 on a student visa however he did not manage to finish his course due to financial difficulties. He dropped out after 2nd year at university therefore did not gain any qualifications. He was also self-funding his studies (paying international fees) why at university. My question is: can his previous studies and the fact that he came to the UK for the first time on a student visa jeopardise his chances of getting full student support?

Would greatly appreciate any advice.
