UK Ancestry Visa

Post by Mark1111 » Tue Oct 09, 2012 5:00 pm

Hello,

I lived in the UK for a total of 6 years. During this time I had to extend my UK ancestry Visa once and it will not expire until June 2014.

I did not apply for Indefinite leave to remain after 5 years.

I have now lived in Germany for the past 18 Months and wish to return to the UK early next year.

Does anybody know if my visa is still valid? I have looked on the Uk border agency website but have only found information about extended absences regarding Indefinite leave to remain and nothing on extended absences whilst under an ancestry visa.

Does anybody have any experience or knowledge of similar circumstances? Any information would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Mark

I believe this topic is best suited for the general immigration forum.

If you are applying for ILR, i suspect you will be required to show that you have not been absent from the UK for a single period of more than 6 month.

The 18 months you spent away seem to have broken your residence in my view.

Yes, it is ... if you have not applied for any other UK visa / leave to remain since the ancestry leave extension.
