FLR (M) Sponsor's documents

Post by myathanda » Mon Oct 15, 2012 2:59 pm

Hi!
I'm applying for FLR (M) as a spouse of a British citizen. My husband's line of work requires A LOT of impromptu traveling (he's a marine engineer with head offices based in Sweden) and I was wondering whether it would be ok to request for just his passport back within 2 weeks of posting my application? I have tried to book an appointment for a premium service but there seem to be NOTHING available - not even midway through January, which I find hard to believe! Would it affect my application if I requested for his passport back? I'm not going anywhere anytime soon so they can hold on to my passport! Do they take other forms of ID or photocopies for the sponsor's docs? Any comments/feedback would be very much appreciated

:)

You won't find appointment slots showing up until 6 weeks before. December and January are too far ahead.
You would be very lucky to get your husband's passport returned after 2 weeks. The application is unlikely to have even reached the case worker for processing.

Thank you Casa! I did try for dates before as well as different offices, but nothing crops up :( Do you have any idea regarding requesting for my husband's (sponsor) passport back? Thank you!!

You can request your husbands passport back without it affecting your application but this may be delayed. The UKBA aren't the speediest at responding, plus you will have to wait until the application has reached a case worker, which in itself may take some time.
If you log on to the online booking system just before midnight you may be lucky. This is when the system is updated (@ midnight automatically) and new slots + cancellations are released. You may also need to be flexible about your choice of PEO.
A solicitor or legal rep can submit the application at a PEO for a fee, but they now need 5 weeks notice. They have a separate allocation of slots.

Thank you! I was sat until 1am last night trying to book an appointment but the website kepy saying 'A technical error has occured' for ages and then FINALLY i saw some slots but the earliest date they have was the 27th of November! Bearing in mind my current visa (Tier 4) expires 30th November, do you think its all a little too late? I have a pretty straightforward case though.....
