UK Naturalization for family...kindly advice

Post by friendandenemy » Tue Oct 23, 2012 6:59 pm

Dear sir/madam,

I came to UK on HSMP visa on april/2007 and my wife came to UK as dependent on oct/2007. My wife went to india during july/2008 and return back to UK july/2009 along with new born baby who was born outside UK.
We three got ILR on april/2012. The query is now can we all together apply for UK naturalization after april/2013? I am living in UK continually since 2007 till today but my wife is here only from past 3.5 years and same with my kid.
First do i need to apply for UK naturalization then both my wife and kid can apply together later once i become citizen?

Kindly advice me how to approach further

Many thanks,
SB

How many days outside the UK would she have between April 2008 and April 2013?

Hi Jambo,

Thanks for quick reply. She was out for 15 months(from july-2008 to june-2009 and aug-2011 to sept-2011) between april/2008 to april/2013.

Regards,
SB

That amounts to around 450 days which is within the allowed limit (up to 480 days would not be an issue).
I see no reason preventing her from applying with you in April 2013 assuming she meets the other requirements as well (See Q1 in the FAQ for a link to the requirements).

Given that the child's application was under section 3(1), an "at discretion" application, it would not have been granted unless one or both parent's applications are also successful.

Accordingly I expect you and your wife will soon receive "application successful" letters soon.
