Claiming benefits for my British child.

Post by bobsheg » Fri Oct 26, 2012 7:35 pm

I am the mother of a British toddler with a 'Limited Leave to Remain' immigration status. I am also not allowed recourse to public funds. I am a Nigerian and have never worked in another country.

My question is: How do I get housing and child benefits for my son? My partner is a British citizen.

Can you be more specific is your British partner the child's father?, was the child born and registered here? or was the child born and registered in Nigeria?.
Why would a British child have limited leave to remain?.

Claing benefits for my British child

Post by bobsheg » Sun Oct 28, 2012 6:15 pm

I am sorry I was not clear enough. I am the one with 'Limited Leave to Remain' The child was born and registered here and has his Brirish passport which his father acquired for him.

My question is: Am I in a position to get those benefits (housing and child)on behalf of my son? My passport is stamped "No recourse to public funds"

My son's father is married to someone else.

Thank you.
