does anybody know what are the rules for a non EU stamp 4 holder regarding entering UK for a visit and possibly to live and work long term.

Do we need to go to UK embassy in Dublin and apply for a visa, or is this not required ? the situation as regards travelling in the common travel area seems quite confusing.
Do the UK border authorities recognize an Irish stamp 4 as being sufficient. If not what else is required.
its possible that I may be transferred to London next year so whats the situation for my wife as a non EU stamp 4 holder to join me and possibly have the right to live and work in the UK also ?
Is it a relatively simple procedure for an Irish citizen and their non EU spouse to get the right to stay in the UK long term ? what exactly is required ?
Do the same draconian rules ( such as needing to have a certain minimum salary or have significant savings ) that have recent been applied to the non EU spouses of UK citizens also apply to Irish citizens ?
Is it the case that under EU law that we get an automatic right to live in the UK , I would like to hear from anybody who has been through this process.
