Funds Requirement for General Visa

Post by swismo » Thu Nov 01, 2012 1:25 pm

Hi:

I am based out of India (Indian Citizen, working in India).

I am planning to make a visit to the UK in about 5-6 months time as a Tourist. I'll be travelling with my wife and seven year old son. During the period, I'll stay with my brother, who works at London.

I'll be travelling with pre-booked return ticket.

While I'll have all the documents that are mandated in the visa requirement (including my employer letter, 3 months payslip, complete itinerary - incl prebooked tickets etc), I have a question on the mimimum bank balance required.

The Visa application says that I should heve adequate bank balance in my account and should produce 6 months' bank statement to support it.

So my questions are:

1. How much amount of bank balance is supposed to be adequate? Any indicative number will help.

2. Out of the 6 months look back period for bank statement, I'll have reasonable good amount (which I consider as adequate) for the later 4 months i.e. closure to the Visa interview date, but for the first two months I did not maintain a good balance. Will it be a hinderance?

3. How can I overcome the above problem as it is an event in the past and I can't undo it any more.

Thanks in advance.

No tangible amount. A positive bank balance with a steady cash flow of income from the previous six months of bank statements. There is no interview; if you don't, in the opinion of the UKBA, have the necessary requirements the visas will be refused.
