Passport Expiring before one week to apply naturalization

My son's Passport expiry date is : 25/12/2012
and I am applying for naturalization on date : 17/12/2012

Do I need to extend Passport of My son , Please suggest

I don't think so. If your date of application (i.e. the date HO receives your application letter) is on or shortly after Monday 17th, you applied with a valid passport anyway.
