Working For A Partner

Post by aborah » Mon Nov 12, 2012 6:30 pm

Hello,

Could you please advise on the following.

Is it possible for a main applicant work(as second job) for the business of the married partner(who is on dependant visa of the main applicant)?

The main applicant has a main job but is in need of a second job to be able to meet the point required for earnings. You advice or confirmation of instances that you have seen in the past is highly appreciated.

Thank you very much in anticipation for your help on this.

It's possible if it's legitimate. You have to be sensible about this and appreciate that these guys are trained to look for anything fishy. The fact that it's a small amount coming close to the end of the year, and you need this to score points (otherwise you can't extend) will be a huge red flag. If this money was not essential to that it would be less significant to any investigation.

Assuming your SE tasks are the types of services that can be provided to any individual who needs that type of service (rather than something provided only to established business entities with advanced accounting practices), the caseworker will want to confirm that you have not simply made a bogus arrangement with your wife just to embellish your income, just to score points. So, you can see why CWs are wary. They are trained to look out for this type thing and make relevant enquiries. Good luck
