Current processing time(average) for a set(o) application as per the posts here, is 6 months and beyond.
This is due to the fact that; firstly when UKBA staff was shuffled to work on Borders before and during Olympic times, created shortage of staff in Home Office.
Secondly when new rules came into affect from 9 July 2012, hugh number of applications were sent to HO via postal route before this date. This created a massive back log in the HO.
My time line is as follow:
Application SET(O) 10y Long Residency: 4 July 2012
Payment Debt: 9 July 2012
Acknowledgement Letter: 12 July 2012(Dated: 10 July 2012)
Biometric Invitation: 31 Aug 2012(Dated: 28 Aug 2012)
Biometric Provided: 31 Aug 2012
Approval: Waiting(6th Month, 3 Jan 2012 will be exactly 6 months)
BRP: Waiting
Now a days every other person is approaching their MP's to send a letter to UK to expedite their application/s. And Ie personally believe that MP's letter doesn't weigh the influence once it used to be.
As per HO call centre they expedite 65% of the applications on request.
You can argue with the HO on technical/rules/law/admin grounds but unfortunately as per their guideline any set postal applications states:
"We will:
decide 95% of postal applications within six months".(This is the waiting time for any set application publish at UKBA website).
But there is no mention of the remaining 5% of the application, do they have to wait indefinitely for indefinite leave to remain?????
Customer service requires sacrifice too, why would a civil servant care!!!!).
Ie just hope that we all get a positive reply atleast within the published time.
The true time of processing SET applications can only be revealed by UKBA freedom of Information Team.
Hope this answers your query.
