And here is the relevant form and guidance:Section 1(3) applications - children born in the United Kingdom to parents who are now settled in the United Kingdom
If the child's parent has become settled in the United Kingdom or becomes a British citizen, the child will have an entitlement to register as a British citizen. This registration would be under section 1(3) of the British Nationality Act 1981.

good suggestion , well new born does not have any passport anyway.InUkOnHsmp wrote:No problem.
You might want to consider using the Nationality Checking Service, for submitting your MN1 application. That way you wont have to part with any of your original documents including the baby's current passport.

I am planning to do the same for my daughter.
make sense now. last one any rough timelines on MN1 and passport given all doc etc are ok.InUkOnHsmp wrote:No need for apologies, perfectly valid question.
Yes MN1 helps you register your baby as a British citizen, and makes him/her eligible for a British passport. You can then apply for a British passport in any post office close to you.
They also have a fast track passport application if time is of essence in your case.
