Legal and Employment status whilst extension is pending

Our Tier 1 (G) expired in early December and we applied for the extension in November and now the long wait begins.

Question: What is our legal and employment status until the decision is made.

Also, can we request UKBA to provide clarification on the right to work until the decision is reached?

Assuming you made application through post and the post reached UKBA

Don't worry your status is absolutely legal as long as your application is under processing. You would continue to enjoy all rights that your expired visa allowed, till decision is given by UKBA or your circumstance changes.

So sit back and relax.
