BC - Some Clarifications Required

Post by cks333 » Tue Jan 08, 2013 11:20 am

I hope someone can answer my query. I got my ILR in May 2012 after being on HSMP (2 years) and Tier-1 General (3 years). So, as per the rules, i will be eligible for british citizenship by the end of May 2013. Unfortunately, I lost my job this month and so effectively i will be out of work from March 2013. I have contributed for NI / Tax for the last 6 years and can get letters from HMRC.

I will be trying for a new job now but some questions are haunting my mind.

Q1. Is employment mandatory when applying for citizenship i.e Can I be able to apply only after finding new employment ?? I did see the application form which ask for the name of the employer in a section.

Q2. I have not planned to apply for job seekers allowance. But I have income protection insurance and for that to be claimed, i need to register for job seekers allowance which complicates the case. So, will registering for job seekers allowance affect my citizenship application in June 2013 ?

Hope the gurus here will help clarify me and as usual my sincere thanks to them for their time.
