Step daughters passport & visa requirements

Post by sniper001 » Fri Jan 18, 2013 9:41 am

Good morning,

My wife holds a Thai passport with ILR since Jan 2004

My stepdaughter is 16 years old on 15-02-13 and has lived in the uk with us since Oct 2004.
What visa/passport requirements are need for her when or before she reaches 18?
Hope you can clarify this for me as the ukba website is so complicated.

Thanks.

I would guess that she has ILE?

It's equivalent to ILR. So, she doesn't need to do anything.

When her Thai passport expires, she may optionally apply for NTL to be placed in her new Thai passport before travelling, in case the airlines get confused with the ILE's expiry date.

Alternatively, she may apply for registration as a British citizen before she is 18, at the same time as your wife's naturalisation (should they wish to do so).

Her current/valid passport expires in Nov 2015.
Can we apply now for NTL and have it placed now?
Do we have to pay each time she gets a new passport?

thanks.
