Pre requirements for Citizenship

Post by northcave » Fri Feb 01, 2013 9:37 am

Sorry for the simply question but i find the UKBA site a little misleading.

Could someone quickly summarise what the requirements are for UK citizen ship.

If for example I am Philippina, I have lived in the UK for 11 years legally without any substantial trips away and have leave to remain until 2015, can i apply for ILR and then citizenship or is there something else that I will need to complete first?

If you are not the spouse or civil partner of a British citizen, then you must also be free from immigration time restriction (eg hold ILR) for at least one year, etc.

Ok thanks. So after holding the ILR for 1 year then I'm applicable to apply?

I currently have leave to remain until 2015 but that is a discretionary leave to remain after winning a case. Whilst that was going on I ended up passing my 10 year mark.
