IRL and a spouse of BC

Post by babida2011 » Tue Feb 19, 2013 11:21 pm

I need some help with this question please. I obtained British nationality (naturalisation 10 years+1Yr IRL) last year. My wife got IRL (10 years lawful). She has been living in the UK as a dependent (my wife) for 11 years. My question is could she apply for naturalisation as spouse of a BC before she completes 1 year on ILR?
If the answer is yes, it will make such a difference in my life!

Yes, if she meets with the other requirements.

Thanks for youe prompt response Vinny. She meets all the criteria but I still have a query regarding the residential qualifying peroid. Does it start after I became a BC or dates back to the time she arrived to UK as my wife? She joined me as a wife 1 year after I arrived to UK(11 years ago).

Thanks again.

Her 3 year qualifying period starts 3 years immediately prior to when the UKBA receives her application. She must also be present in the UK on that date.
