Can we apply for visit visit before expiry of current visa?

Post by salman7777 » Thu Mar 07, 2013 9:41 pm

Hi,

I have a question:

The applicant was previously issued visit visa valid until May 2013. He plans to travel to visit family end of may/June 2013

Can the new visa be applied before the expiry of current one? for example in Apri/2013. Are there any country specific rules for this?

Appreciate if someone can reply based on specific reference to UKBA guidelines or something concrete to avoid refusal of the application.

Thanks

Is there any particular reference to UKBA rules which would allow this ? Basically to make sure that the application is not returned if the visa will be applied where there are still 2 months left on the current visit visa and risk losing fee (ca £600).

I don't see anything on the family visitor guidelines or form allowing/restricting applicants.

thanks

Changes to your circumstances
If your travel plans are delayed, you cannot change the expiry date of your visa unless there are compelling compassionate circumstances. At the discretion of a visa officer, we can extend the expiry date of a visa for up to 3 months, if there has been no change in your circumstances. Otherwise you should apply for another visa.

that's very good. Its safe to say this would also apply in the situation where you have used the visa couple of times and want to travel again on a future date so applying for a new visa rather than waiting for the current visa to expire first.

thanks v much! :)
