Hello all,
A quick background. I met my wife, a US citizen whilst on holiday. We hit it off and she came over for a six month stay with me. She went back and we applied for her to come over on the correct visa for us to get married, which we did in January.
So we have filled in the FLR(M) and sent it off the day after the wedding as her visa expired in February, with all of the documents that the form requested - we assumed that they would also consider the other application for her to enter the country to marry where I had sent another lot of documents also.
Last month they sent a request for my wife to go to the Post Office for her biometrics to be done, which we did.
We have no received a letter asking for the following -
Wage slips for the past six months for both myself (that's okay) and my wife (she hasn't been working, she's been here for the past seven months now - how do they expect her to produce wage slips?).
Employers letter for my wife (see above).
Detailed bank statements (I support my wife, she can't work. She does have a bank account over here but it's basically me putting the occasional £20 in there; everything is done from my accounts really).
Most recent Council Tax bill (why? Not a problem to produce it, but seems an odd request as I'm the only person on the Council Tax bill as they can't hold a non UK citizen liable).
Documentary evidence that we have both lived at the same address since our marriage. This should be from at least five official sources and addressed to both parties jointly or separately (how on earth are we supposed to produce this? Apart from our bank statements which are individual, not joint accounts, no mail is in her or both of our names apart from the occasional letter or package which comes from friends. No utility bills are in her name, her mobile phone contract is in my name... not sure what to do?).
So, basically, apart from the bank statements, MY payslips, the council tax bill... I can't submit all these documents that the UKBA is asking for.
Even worse they want it by the 26th March, and I've had to order paper statements and a new council tax bill. The bank statements might not get here in time, which is a concern.
Is it worth writing a letter now and basically say "We have received your letter asking for documents however we are unable to produce x, y & z because of the following reasons: ..., we will submit the documents that we can however they may be slightly later than the deadline because they have had to be ordered due to us not receiving paper statements."?
Hope you can help.
Regards.
