Work registration card - employer details?

Post by rondzik » Tue Apr 02, 2013 4:12 pm

Hi there,

I am trying to apply for BC and I have slight issue with my WRS. I just have been to Nationality Checking Service where I have presented all necessary documents, including WRS card with my photo and name, dated on 19/07/2006, which looks like this:

I have been told that there is another type of WRS card that include name of the employer and that I need to provide it. My problem is that I have never seen such a document.

To support my application I had with me:
- a letter from my employer (written on 3/07/2006) stating that I started work there on 15/06/2006,
- contract, signed on 16/06/2006
- p60 for 2006-2007
- a employment termination notice letter from a 22/10/2007
- p45 when I was leaving this company (from 31/10/2007)
- all payslips from June 2006
- a blue 'UK residence documentation for a national of an EEA state" book, type: "registration certificate" issued on 17/08/2007

All of this is apparently not enough and I need to provide mentioned WRS certificate with employer details. I have been given phone number to Home Office in Sheffield (03001234699) where supposedly I could obtain a copy from, but two people that I spoke to said that they don't know how to help me and that I should call Immigrations (at 08706067768). I called there and I have been told that I can only send an email at barcenquires@ukba.gs1.gov.uk. I have googled this email address and it seems like the email to section of Home Office that deals with work permits for Romanians and Bulgarians.

I was wondering if any of you had any experience with similar issue? Is there actually another WRS card? How I can get it? Why my WRS card with all proofs of uninterrupted employment is not enough?

I will be grateful for any help or suggestions

Tom

I'm not familiar with the WRS procedures that have been in place in 2006 but could it be that you had such a card and the HO kept it when you applied for EEA1 in 2007?

In any case, it doesn't really matter. The fact that you have Residence Certificate proves you have fulfilled the WRS requirement. You should insist NCS accept the application. They are not the decision makers but just accepting the application on behalf of the HO. Tell them you are willing to take the risk (they might ask you to sign something). You won't get refused because you didn't produce that particular document.

Well, I thought that having this blue book will be helpful, but it seems like its actually a bit useless. They (NCS people) look like they do not really know how to interpret it. Inside my booklet it says 'registration certificate', not 'residence certificate', so I am not sure what is it.

Despite all of the above, could anyone be register with WRS and have his card and not be working. Surely if I have WRS card and payslips for 12 moths after its registration its obvious that I have worked thru this time? Not sure what else I need to prove.

I think NCS are just being difficult. Just tell them you appreciate their advice but would like to apply anyway. They should not refuse taking an application but might ask you to sign that they have warned you about a missing document.

I would do it, if not the risk of losing £841.

Anyway, I called my sister who also lives in UK and it turns out that WRS is actually 2 part document. After 20 minutes of digging thru my archives I managed to find the second part, so the blame here is on me.

Still, I dont understand why having a WRS is so important if someone can prove that have been working here for last 6-7 years. I actually have payslip for _every_ calendar month since June 2006

Thanks,

Tom

without WRS you can't claim that you was legally Working in the UK prior may 2011, thats why its so important.if you did't register and work for one employer 12 months (if not you had to register again) you can't count this time as legally working. It was requirement that people from A8 do WRS if they want work as employee.

Hi Boloney

I did register to WRS in 2006, so luckily I don't have this problem. I just had an issue with finding one piece of documentation.

The truth is that UK is really easygoing place to live, at least this has been my experience so far. Until I tried to apply for citizenship. I understand there is not best press recently for immigrants, caused - mostly - by economical downturn, but for the first time I felt like I am not that welcomed. I also understand that citizenship is serious matter and should't be given away to everyone, but as a young professional with decent career I feel like the whole procedure is serving as a deterrent, rather than opportunity for GB to get on-board young people who can fuel this country's economy. But maybe its just me.
