How detailed should the information re previous addresses be?

Do they only include UK addresses?

There was one point where I went back to my home country and apply for a new visa. On my return to the UK, I lived about 3-4 weeks with several different friends before finding my own flat.

Think I need to include all this? Or just the substantive addresses...

If it's for a main applicant, there's only space for a single previous address in case you lived at your current address for less than 5 years (it does NOT state your full address history or all the addresses you lived at for 5 years). So just supply what they are asking for.
