Bank error causing big worry for spouse visa

Post by majambi » Fri Apr 19, 2013 9:53 pm

Only being able to rely on cash savings to meet the financial requirement and just as I thought I had everything under control, today I checked my bank balance and found that they had erroneously debited $15,000 from my account! This takes me below the 62,500GBP floor amount to meet the requirement, and I am fuming.

I have contacted the bank and this should be corrected sometime next week. They have assured me that they will be sending a letter to explain what happened.

Can someone please assure me that this will be understood by the UKBA? I have seen a lot of posts which leads me to believe that UKBA are so very strict that there is no 'discretion', etc.

Thanks. I can't wait until this is all over :(

I don't think anyone can give you a 100% reassurance - but I would highlight the error where ever you can (e.g. the letter, your cover letter, the 'extra information' section on the application).

My bet is that someone will apply common sense and let it through.

I hope you're right. I have mixed feelings myself. With common sense applied it should be easy to see the mistake. I just hope my paperwork arrives at the desk of someone with common sense!
