Residence card of EEA National Held for 5 years/Citizenship

Hi,

My wife's residence card expires in 2 months. She needs to apply for her British citizenship.

My question is this. I am a German national and have been living in the UK or the last 5 years with her. In this time i have been employed by a US company. I have been paying my taxes and such in the US for the last 8 years. I was informed by a visa agency that when the application is made i have to prove that i have been here for the last 5 years and been exercising my treaty rights.

My question is how will i be able to do this? I have not had private medical care here in the UK but have also not used the NHS. What option will we have to stay here? Can we do an extension on my wife's visa? I am freaking out over here.

Leaving the immigration issue aside for a moment - have you taken a professional advice on your tax liabilities? I would have expected you to pay UK tax on your US earnings if the work was performed in the UK.

Your partner could always apply for another 5 years Residence Card based on your activities. If you are self sufficient, you will need private health insurance to cover both of you (doesn't matter you didn't use NHS until now) for having the RC issued and for the time to be counted for PR.
