Candidates will attend the ceremonies, where they will take an oath of fidelity to the nation, receive their certificate of naturalisation and thereby become Irish citizens.

Unbelievable!maxtor wrote:I received my approval letter on march 1st. However when I email them today about my invitation date they emailed me the following
''Due to restrictions on numbers, The ceremony on the 20th May is fully
subscribed with people who had submitted their required documents earlier
in the year. You will be invited to the next available ceremony''
I wonder when would be the next ceremony after May20.

Out of curiosity, when did you submit yr documents and payment?
Ummm sounds like I might be in the same situation so - I sent my payment on the 4th Mar (by reg post). Will email them tomorrow and let u know. Good luck all!maxtor wrote:ambereu wrote:maxtor wrote:
On march 7th I have sent a registered t with all correspondence they asked for.
Well I have to wait till nxt ceremony date. No option left what so ever. I think one should have lot of patience to deal with Irish immigration and citizenship
I still find it very very difficult to understand why so many people are waiting to attend the ceremony and only 2080 was invited. Its really appalling and unreal.maxtor wrote:I received my approval letter on march 1st. However when I email them today about my invitation date they emailed me the following

What day did you send the prescribed fee and documents?amberly wrote:I got the letter on 1st March as well:)
Can not remember exactly but it was the following week (Wed) maybe.IntegratedMigrant wrote:What day did you send the prescribed fee and documents?amberly wrote:I got the letter on 1st March as well:)
I think I sent the draft to them on 6th or 7th...ambereu wrote:Yeah so it looks like they are fully subscribed - just emailed them and got this answer:

date confirmed yet.
I sent my documents in on Monday, the 4th Mar, so my guess would be anyone who submitted their docs after that will be invited to the next available ceremony also.
Boooo... I was so looking forward to it
Tell me about it, thats Ireland for you.fergy wrote:Hello, new to this board and have not been waiting too long for an approval on citizenship.. just 6 months, But I have to say it is appalling that they have taken peoples money and not given them a certificate.
People must pay for the registration fee so to be in a change of being included in any ceremony that may be next.fergy wrote:Do people then have to pay the registration fee until they get to a ceremony? Has anyone written to their TD about this.
One can only wonder why it takes up to 5 months after approval to attend for a so-called ceremony that most people dont even need or view as of importance. But I must tell you though that the reason the ceremony was introduced is simply for political reasons.fergy wrote:This one is hard to figure out ..They must have screwed up somewhere along the lines to have this backlog of payees still waiting for certs. What's the point of the ceremony if people are so upset about the wait and draw on their personal lives. Ok I put in my two cents
This political reason would also work against him eventually... in other forms people start to complain about the "Huge" number of new Irish taking the jobs and services blah blah ...etcIntegratedMigrant wrote:One can only wonder why it takes up to 5 months after approval to attend for a so-called ceremony that most people dont even need or view as of importance. It looks good to Alan Shatter to say that he introduced the ceremony as a big event for Naturalised Citizens to celebrate an important day in their lives bla bla bla. Never for once have they asked Naturalised Citizens or has there been a survey that says that Naturalised Citizens prefer that.
Its just what Alan Shatter wants to improve his status as a Minister.
