Tier 2 visa start

Hi,

I just got my Tier 2 visa approved, but I noticed on the BRP, for example:

Valid Until: 02-March-2015
Place and Date of Issue: 15-March-2012

Could I please ask you guys, when did my Tier 2 visa start? Will it be when my COS was granted or is it March 2 2013? I'm just trying to identify how many years I got and when can I start counting the number of years I stayed in the country.
