Thanks Linkers.

I was quite fortunate enough but I was worried about the acknowledgement letter as it didn't arrive even after 3 weeks but luckily today rather than acknowledgement letter I received the approval.

Hope to hear good news from you soon.
Thanks

Noticed that on a couple updates that the date of the letter or when the fees taken was June 2 which is a Sunday, is it normal for them to work during weekends?

We sent separate applications as our marriage certificate is misplaced.

As you can see even though two applications were sent at the same time (from same post office using SD), there was 2 days delay for second application processing.
My wife received her approval in Brown envelope today even though we sent a pre-paid royal mail special delivery envelop. What a waste of money.

Timeline updated as above in blue.

How come you received ceremony invitation so fast? Is the reference number of the invitation letter and approval letter the same?

Hi PSB

I got the approval on 6 th June ( letter dated 02 June ) so I immediately called my NCS Croydon and I had so many immediate dates available in June and July and the immediate one was on 12 June which is next Wednesday. So I consider quite fortunate enough to got both approval and oath ceremony on earliest dates.

Eligibility criteria: Work Permit (5yrs) + 1yr ILR
Method of application: NCS Southwark (wife and myself)
Date of application: 07/05/2013
Date of receipt by UKBA:
Date of acknowledgement: 13/05/13 dated 10/05/13
Date of debit of fees: 10/05/13
Date of approval: 01/06/2013. I received the letters today, 08/06/13.
Date of ceremony: pending. I will be arranging first thing on monday

Thanks for the forum and the dates posted by others, i was hopeful that something will come through this week. I have never been so optimistic about seeing a brown envelope. My wife thought i was going mad by my constant nagging this week about brown envelops or letters from the post.

Now how can i be thankful to all on this board and especially to the gurus and moderators who have been providing all the advice and help.

Oath swearing and passport application next....
almost there.

englishlife,
they say it could take up to 6weeks to get a reply. Granted it is on a case by case basis. I have a friend whose application has been with the UKBA since February....money taken and they have still not come back to him.
Do not panic, it will come

Well Englishlife l read your critic of my method and decided to look into your case see why its taken long....

ever heard about something called 'tricks of the trade'....in this case you have slightly delayed not complicated your application.

1. With UKBA its all about money! the more money you pay the faster they will deliver... the sooner they get the money on their account the sooner they start....for your info some UKBA applications definately not yet on AN have premium services where you pay around 10k and they will come to you and you will get your papers in about couple of days. In your case you have gone and paid by cheque....who still pays by cheque anyways l thought it was extinct we are in an age where paper money is about to become redundant....so based on this simple diagnosis your application acknowledgement(DoA) date is the 15/5/13 when they received your money not 9/5/13 as there is no way they will start an application before the money touches their account...just incase you run off with their money:)...its happened to them before so they learned... so based on my calculation nearest zero 20/05/13 the ball started rolling for you.
2. You posted your application...this means they have to do screen it themselves and photocopy your documents themselves ...they dont like it...they love it easy so If you applied NCS it could have helped make things faster....as they do some of the work and the application process is virtually started at the NCS as you receive your documents back...

UKBA workers dont care who you are...whether you work for the government or you are related to the primeminister ...most applications are Valid and have similar merits but small things like paying by card vs cheque make all the difference in the world....Post vs NCS....other people (of course you excluded) l have seen on the forum go as far as thinking because they are married to BC this adds weight to their application no it doesnt...UKBA have clear guidelines to follow and they cannot deal with applications under duress!

Hope this helps you figure when the postman will come knocking...Good luck

As they accept cheque so I paid by cheque as simple as that. And if photocopy was that important then they could have said attached photocopies like ILR application. And by the way they dont copy anything before make decission. So you can ask me how do i know that ? Do you know something call database. In their database they already have my life inthe uk test result verification search and ilr copy and all visa copy. Plus they also have my landing details. Also stored address details i gave them at heathrow airport. And details about all my extention and date of application and visa issue date plus even time i booked biometric residence permit appointment and details about all biometric residence plus bank statements copy, university certificate copy as well as my psw letter. And also my ielts test result and also everything. So no new documents :-) i hope your prediction come true. Thanks for reply.

if it was as simple as having things on databases all you would need is to pay and its done! everything needs to be verified every time or every application if you send your documents they need to be verified to make sure they are valid...your passports/documents may expire and various other reason why they may no longer be valid so having them on a database does not make them valid for every application....so they are screened as new documents on every application and need to be verified in order to have a valid application.

I am using my existing passport , I have used for ILR and it is valid up until next year and due to ILR application they clearly entry valid until day in their system. And they also entry all those renew date and current validity date. You have seen some people posted their passport as their existing passport finished its terms so you immediately reached to a decission . I like that you are helping others and in some case your formula is working but that doesnt mean anything to rest of the 14950 or more application approx. And data said in every year from total application almost 40-50 percent is mn1 application. And those applicant get decission very quick due to their age. And by the way ukba sometimes asked for travel documents or any other passport just because of cross check residence requirements. As people can use travel document to get in and out of this country or their new passport with ilr stamp passport. Or travel documents with ilr sticker passport or biometric. As all we know stateless person has no current passport but they can also apply for british nationality. And if passport has expired in that scenario ukba used to give ilr status on a paper letter. And now as it is biometric so even passport expired but still they issue biometric card :-) and my ilr visa on passport and it is valid up until next year. Can i tell you one thing, today or tomorrow everyone will get their approval by the help of God. Your timeline is making people more worried. You are saying things what doesnt have concrete base so your guidelines regarding timelines is shaking and collapsed :-) stop people making more worry than we are. Thank you. And dont make us thing our is coming next week and then week turns months. Majority application is straigh forward. They dont need life in the uk test certificate as its already been validated plus they accept ncs because everyone is living uk under settled status and therefore they dont allow ncs for ilr application or other visa applications. So please dont show me a dream in daylight, sorry for argument but i think you will stop your mathmatical formula what foesnt have a pillars to hold its weight :-)
