Hello,
I would appreciate it if someone can give me an honest answer, as this issue really bothers me.
I’ve recently got my Residence Permit after 10 years of lawful stay
(as a student).I started working, but it’s part time and cash in hand.
I don’t make that much so paying tax, even a small amount, would be a real burden for me. I do not plan on relying on state pension in the future, not sure where I will be but certainly not interested in that option, therefore paying NI is also something that I wish to avoid as it’s throwing away money that I desperately need at this stage of my life.
(in case it matters, I work 36 hours a week, and make £220)
My main issue is, when thinking ahead, in 5 years time, when I want to apply for naturalization, in the AN form, there’s a section asking about my employment status, name of employer, and tax office ref.
I’m not an EEA citizen, so I’m not worried about treaty rights, only this section as I’m not self employed, and I think this asks me to give ref for tax payment – am I correct? Or does it refer to my employer?
I don’t know if it refers to the previous 5 years or just for the time of application. In that case, can I say I’m unemployed or it’s not a good thing to say?...and what about previous tax ref they are asking for?...
I don’t not know how to go about it, and want to be prepared. Can anyone advise me on this matter?
Thank you in advance,
Jenny.
