Naturalization Under Section 7.5(g)

Hi, The Residence Requirements for section 7.5(g) of British Naturalization Annex B to Chapter 18 (http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/siteco...)
says

"consideration of an application for indefinite leave to remain,
made more than 15 months before the citizenship application, had
been protracted through no fault of the applicant, providing ILR
was eventually granted. This can include applications for asylum
which have resulted in the grant of ILR (you should note that any
asylum cases granted on or after the 30 August 2005 will not result
in ILR, applicants will instead be given limited leave)".

Has anybody received Naturalization under this section? If yes then how long the ILR application was delayed for?

It is up to the discretion of the caseworker, and I would surmise the longer the better. Anything above 6 months should fall into 7.5(g) but again it is not guaranteed.

Thanks for the reply. Mine was decided in around 8 months. During this time neither UKBA asked for any further information nor there were any delays on my side e.g. biometrics etc. I saw one query answered by UKBA on whatdotheyknow in which they confirmed that the term protracted is not defined by UKBA and is left to the case workers discretion. So if there were any real life cases where people had received naturalization under this section then it would help cases like me.

I have the same problem. Mine was decided in little more than 6.5 months through no fault of mine. I assume applicants like me - around May 12-Sep 12 (due to the olympics) are in this predicament. I know people who received their ILR in 10 months.

I have the same problem. Mine was decided in little more than 6.5 months through no fault of mine. I assume applicants like me - around May 12-Sep 12 (due to the olympics) are in this predicament. I know people who received their ILR in 10 months.

If you wait until 12 months after ILR you should be successful so far as you meet the other standard requirements. Relying on 7.5(g) is not guaranteed, but if you're willing to take a risk (possibly low) then you can apply early.
