Can you please advise where did you tracked your passport application when you applied through JCAP. I am in a same boat and want to check the status as my passport fee has been deducted but no approval letter yet.

I have spoken to PO and two persons I spoken to were confused about when a fee is deducted is a possible indication of application approval or not. Actually one of them said the fee is deducted by HO and I questioned him back that why would HO deduct passport fee as the fee form I filled was for PO and not HO. Anyways I later than spoke to HO and they were not sure either. Even though this should be very straight forward.

I was in the same boat as you and this morning I received my approval letter. I applied on 19th of April. PP fee taken on 25th May. Date of approval says 12th June. Received on 23/06. Hopefully you should be receiving sometime soon too.

Congratulations and thanks for your reply.

I spoke to Passport person as well and he said they did receive my application and passport fee has been deducted but he said he cant tell me the status of my passport application as yet as i have not attended my oath ceremony. To which i asked a Question what if my Citizenship is refused, will you refund my money. He said no we do not. I said council receipts says different as it say money for passport fee will only be deducted once the citizenship application is approved. To which he said then you have to contact HO.

The other person i spoke to said that he is not sure what happens if the fee is deducted and citizenship is refused, but he said in this case you should contact HO.

Fingers crossed and hope for the best. My passport fee was deducted on 29th of May, i applied on 21st of April.

I have just received ILR following 5 years route as a spouse to a person settled in the UK under ILR (but not British Citizen). I have been living in the country for over 9 years in total.

If your spouse is only holding ILR, then yes, you have to wait 12 months. If your spouse is British or becomes British at any time before the 12 months and has attended their ceremony, then yes you can apply at that point.

There is no waiver of the months if your spouse only holds ILR.

I’ve recently received the ceremony invitation letter and am awaiting a call back from my local council. However, I’m confused about something that should be really straight forward!

On my Lithuanian passport the place of birth is “Lietuva” (translated: Lithuania), where as on British passports place of birth is the town you were born in... so now, on my naturalisation certificate the place of birth will appear as “Lietuva, Lithuania” - basically meaning “Lithuania, Lithuania”.

Is this going to cause issues when I apply for a British passport? I’m assuming they’ll want to display the town where I was born, but this won’t match my naturalisation certificate.

Your ceremony invitation letter states you should still book and go to your ceremony and THEN "return the certificate to us for amendment afterwards. You should also send a passport or birth certificate as evidence of the correct details."

So what I would say is get your ceremony done, then contact HO and tell them what the issue is. They'll most likely just ask you to send them your passport as it would state the TOWN you were born in.

Your ceremony invitation letter states you should still book and go to your ceremony and THEN "return the certificate to us for amendment afterwards. You should also send a passport or birth certificate as evidence of the correct details."

So what I would say is get your ceremony done, then contact HO and tell them what the issue is. They'll most likely just ask you to send them your passport as it would state the TOWN you were born in.

Hi,

Passport fee deduction is not a guarantee that Naturalisation application has been approved as confirm by Passport office.

My passport fee was deducted on 29-05-208 and received the approval letter today [02-07-2018] dated 25-06-2018

You will only know when you get the letter.

My next guess would be a birth certificate then! If you can't get a hold of yours, probably contact HO and fingers crossed you get to speak to someone who understands the complexity of your case. Again, I'd do this sort of amendments after the ceremony as that's what the letter states and you can always use this as your argument in case someone made a big fuss about you not having contacted them earlier.

As i mentioned it takes normally 4 weeks after passport fee is deducted but again every case is different.

ILR under the UK immigration routes does not work in the same way as PR under the EEA route. The ILR letters do not state ILR has been granted or approved. The BRP card received shortly after ILR is granted is the relevant date. ILR is also not 'acquired automatically' and has to be applied for specifically with all immigration rule requirements met depending on UK visa route.

A replacement BRP card has no bearing on the original grant of ILR.

What might be acceptable for one, will not necessarily be acceptable for another for example.

No one can say. Each apocarion is assessed and processed on its own merits and circumstances. Some people are still waiting from early 2017.

No one can say. Each apocarion is assessed and processed on its own merits and circumstances. Some people are still waiting from early 2017.

By the way the further information they request was the B1 certficate as my degree was not accepted wish I sent from the beginning, so since they were already on it it’s not an indication It could be soon at all . Sorry for asking again. I’m sure it will benefit someone else out here too

Mention the date when your ILR was granted and do write a cover letter and state this why your BRP has different date.
