Hi Nanci,

"In-country" -- You mean, can he go back to his home country then apply for a new T2G Visa immediately? Or the cooling-off period is mandatory?

then what you had in Jan 2012 was not "leave to remain" but entry clearance and you are not eligible to switch from T2 ICT Long Term Staff to T2G in-country.
Yes this was my understanding but the UKBA official clearly stated that if I can get a new sponsor there is nothing stopping me to switch. This is waht confused me.

Hi Matrix,
It is possible to switch immediately I mean going back to home country and then apply for T2G immediately without cooling off period if your salary is more than 152100.

What is your salary? Is it less than 152100 ? Whom did you approached.

My salary is 40K and had a sponsor, so just looking for an option to get T2G :). Please share your inputs.

My salary is below £100K. When I went to the PEO in Glasgow 2 weeks ago to apply for a new leave to remain(as my designation changed), I asked the UKBA official at the counter regarding the switch. He was the one who told me that I could switch from tier 2 ICT LT staff if I had a new sponsor

If you are confused by conflicting advice why not refer to the actual rules.
See Immigration Rule 245HD and in particular sub-clause (c)(i)
