Friend Caught Working With No Permit - Detention Centre Now

Post by charlotterahman » Sat Jun 29, 2013 6:51 pm

Hello, my friend has been caught by immigration working in a pizza shop when his student visa did not allow him to work. He was taken to a local police station and then transferred to Gatwick Airport Detention centre i think it was called Brook House. (He has a valid student visa just no working hours allowed).

What happens now? His passport has expired so they can't send him straight home until they have organised that. My friend is from Bangladesh.

Is it likely he will get bail? Or be released? Or a flight home?

Has anyone had experience in this situation?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

expired passport doesn't stop Immigration authorities sending him home, as long as they identified him as a Bangladeshi, that's enough for them.but he can look for a solicitor.
