Marriage in non EU country

Post by zaza7625 » Thu Jul 04, 2013 8:31 am

Hi.
I am curious and have a quick question.
In case if the marriage with EU citizen registered in non EU country but the marriage certificate is notarized(appostiled) and accordingly translated, would I have an apportunity to get eu4fam (stamp4) as a spouse of EU national?

Thanks :)

Why should the marriage not to be recognised when it is notarized and appostiled by state authorities?

The only reason for refusal I am aware of is in cases where a man had more than one wife, lawful in his own country but not in Ireland.

I am aware of one case where the second wife travelled to Ireland with her husband but then the first wife wanted to come here also and was refused a visa as her husband was living with the second wife in Ireland already. So he could only sponsor one wife and he already had one wife in Ireland.

He could not bring the other wife to Ireland unless he separated from the wife with whom he was already living in Ireland.

I would hope that a marriage recognised internationally would be recognised by Ireland.

thanks for reply.
Referring your message about notarization of my marriage certificate.
When I called to Irish honorary consulate here in Georgia about notarization , they told me that there is no need marriage certificate to be notarized in Irish consulate, cos' we don't have an Irish embassy here.they told me that appostile would be enough only.
